Antimicrobial resistance occurs when microbes evolve mechanisms that protect them from the effects of antimicrobials. Antibiotic resistance is a subset of AMR, that applies specifically to bacteria that become resistant to antibiotics. Infections due to AMR cause millions of deaths each year.

Capacity Development on AMR Data Management

CAPTURA (Capturing Data on Antimicrobial Resistance Patterns and Trends in Use in Regions of Asia), a Fleming Fund Regional Grant, continues to support Bangladesh’s AMR containment efforts through collaboration with stakeholders including DGHS, DGDA, and the Fleming Fund Country Grant for Bangladesh.

Organized a workshop on AMR Data Management in Animal Health Sector

With the support from the Fleming Fund Coun-try Grant to Bangladesh, the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) jointly organized a consultative workshop on AMR Data Management in Animal Health (AH) Sector on 3rd March 2021 in Dhaka. Representa- tives from different departments of Animal Health and fisheries sectors attended the workshop.
