প্রাইমারি হেলথ কেয়ারে সবচেয়ে বেশি যত্রতত্র অ্যান্টিবায়োটিকের ব্যবহার হয় বলে জানিয়েছেন স্বাস্থ্যমন্ত্রী জাহিদ মালেক। তিনি বলেন, প্রাইমারি লেবেলে যারা স্বাস্থ্য সেবা দিয়ে থাকেন, বিশেষ করে গ্রাম্য ডাক্তার যারা রয়েছেন, তারা কোয়ালিফাইড না। তাদের কোনো সার্টিফিকেট বা যোগ্যতা নেই, অথচ তারা অ্যান্টিবায়োটিকও প্রেসক্রাইব করে। এটি এখন থেকে আর হতে দেওয়া হবে না।
বৃহস্পতিবার (৬ অক্টোবর) দুপুরে স্বাস্থ্য মন্ত্রণালয়ের সভাকক্ষে আয়োজিত এক সংবাদ সম্মেলনে মন্ত্রী এসব কথা বলেন।
তিনি বলেন, যারা গ্রামে চিকিৎসা দেয়, তাদের চিকিৎসা দেওয়ার মতো কোনো শিক্ষা, যোগ্যতা বা সার্টিফিকেট নেই। তাদেরকে আমরা চিকিৎসা দিতে দেব না। এ বিষয়ে আমরা খুব শিগগিরই পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করব। এ বিষয়ে কাজ করে যাচ্ছি।
মন্ত্রী বলেন, স্বাস্থ্যসেবার মান উন্নয়নে চেষ্টা করছি। সেদিকে আমরা গুরুত্ব দিচ্ছি। সেবার মানোন্নয়নে অনেকগুলো দিক আছে। এ ক্ষেত্রে অনেক জনবল প্রয়োজন হয়, অবকাঠামো ও যন্ত্রপাতির প্রয়োজন হয়। আমরা এখন প্রাইমারির স্বাস্থ্যসেবার মান উন্নয়নে বদ্ধপরিকর। যদি প্রাইমারির স্বাস্থ্যসেবার উন্নয়ন করতে পারি, তাহলে আমাদের স্বাস্থ্যখাতের সার্বিক চিত্র অনেকটাই পাল্টে যাবে।
The Global Leaders Group co-chairs, Their Excellencies Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh and Mia Amor Moley, Prime Minister of Barbados, hosted a UN General Assembly side event to discuss and address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) with Heads of Government and State, government Ministers and relevant stakeholders. “Urgent action is required to stop the spread of antimicrobial resistance. Without action, we face a future where we will be unable to treat infections in humans, animals and plants. We must work together to protect our medicines” said co- chair of the Global Leader Group on AMR, Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Mr. Zahid Maleque, MP, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh, shared his views regarding AMR containment in a press conference at the Ministry of Health on 6 October 2022. The honourable minister stressed that AMR is a silent epidemic and needs urgent attention for its containment. The irrational use of antibiotics needs to be stopped. The quack doctors are not qualified to prescribe the antibiotics and they will no longer be allowed to do that. The antibiotics will be marketed in a red colour package to increase awareness on antibiotics among public. The over-the-counter sale of antibiotics will also be soon prohibited by law. The Drug Act 2022 is about to be finalised, and once the law is passed in parliament, it will be implemented immediately. Mass awareness building efforts on the need of rational use of antibiotics will be undertaken so that the public will be cautious in using antibiotics and show compliance with doctor prescriptions.
On September 30, 2021, the Antimicrobial Resistance Containment Program, Communicable Disease Control (CDC), DGHS, with Fleming Fund Country Grant for Bangladesh (FFCGB), organized a meeting. Director of the RMCH, Brigadier General Md. Shameem Yazdany chaired the meeting, and Dr Aninda Rahman, DPM, CDC, DGHS, moderated the sessions. Participants included clinicians and faculty from all disciplines of the RMCH, colleagues from CDC, FFCGB, IEDCR, and icddr,b. A very lively discussion on AMR and data utilization took place in the meeting.
CAPTURA (Capturing Data on Antimicrobial Resistance Patterns and Trends in Use in Regions of Asia), a Fleming Fund Regional Grant, continues to support Bangladesh’s AMR containment efforts through collaboration with stakeholders including DGHS, DGDA, and the Fleming Fund Country Grant for Bangladesh.
With the support from the Fleming Fund Coun-try Grant to Bangladesh, the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute (BLRI) jointly organized a consultative workshop on AMR Data Management in Animal Health (AH) Sector on 3rd March 2021 in Dhaka. Representa- tives from different departments of Animal Health and fisheries sectors attended the workshop.
The Communicable Disease Control (CDC), Director-ate General of Health Services (DGHS) organized the Core Working Group (CWG) meeting of the Nation-al Technical Committee on Antimicrobial Containment Program on 16 March 2021. The meeting was presided over by Prof. Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, Director, Disease Control and facilitated by Dr. Aninda Rahman, Deputy Program Manager, CDC.
